Wild Baby bunny emergency, please help!?
I have two baby rabbits. I need some tips for taking care of them. I know what your thinking, they should be with their mother, but my dad was at work and there was a backhoe loading whiterock into a dumptruck and they were in the white rock and then the dump truck dumped the whiterock and a backhoe was loading the whiterock and that is when they discovered the baby rabbits so he put them in his shirt pocket and brought them home. They have a few cuts on their legs. I have been feeding them with replacement milk and rubbing their hineys with a warm washcloth to get them to use the bathroom. They do not have their eyes open yet. Any tips?
I don’t know of any rehabilitation centers around here. I would appreciate tips. If they’ve made it through all of that…I think they have at least a slight chance. They are eating well and breathing well.

90% of wild baby rabbits will die in captivity because of the inappropriateness of all available diets and the stress of being kept captive and being in close proximity to a predatory animal (you!). . Their chances are best with a professional rehabilitator. There is a link to locate one on this page: http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orphan.html
And additional information on why it’s a bad idea to try and raise them yourself here: http://www.geocities.com/fourlittlebunnies
Add: There is an extensive list of rehabbers here: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm as well as links on that page to three other listings. It is unlikely they do not have one listed fairly nearby. Because of the very high mortality rate, it is truly important to get them to a professional for care. How badly would you feel were they to die in your care?
