Used Backhoe

Buying used equipment instead of new machines has become increasingly popular as people are trying to watch their expenses and manage their money even more than in years prior. Contractors have quickly found that buying used equipment, if done correctly, can save a lot of money and still work well for their business. Purchasing used equipment however does take some energy and some careful planning and knowledge. Similar to purchasing a used car, if you do not do all of your homework, you may end up with a lemon and have to start from ground zero.

Backhoe loaders are a popular piece of equipment that people decide to purchase used because it is not a production piece of equipment. What is meant by this is that it is a machine that is needed around the jobsite for odds and ends, but it doesn’t need to be running twenty four hours a day. Most contractors put very few hours on their backhoe per year but still need it around which is why they decide to buy a used back hoe rather than spend the money on a brand new backhoe.

The safest and easiest way to find a good used backhoe is to go to your local equipment dealer. This is a very good option because just like car dealerships, some equipment dealerships will offer certified used equipment. This would mean that your backhoe that you purchased has had a complete certified inspection and will be sold to you with some sort of warranty. This is nice because it eases your mind that if something tends to go wrong in the first six months that you will still be covered. Dealers usually have a good amount of low and high hour equipment so you can get many different machine pricing options. High hour machines sell for less than low hour machines.

If you have been in the industry for a while and are comfortable with purchasing equipment, then an auction can be a very good place to get a great bargain on a backhoe. Auctions usually happen a few times a year and can be found at a location near you. What you need to do before the auction is research the machines that will be at the auction and get as much information possible so you are well informed before the auction even takes place. This will ensure you will not get a machine that you will not be happy with a few months later.
